Are Premium Paints Worth the Extra Money?

When it comes to home renovation projects, most people want to save money in any way that they can. These projects can get expensive but it can also feel difficult to know which areas are okay to skimp on and which areas are worth paying the extra money for a better product. When it comes to indoor painting projects, you may feel tempted to buy a less-expensive paint brand in order to save money, especially because of the added costs of the other supplies that you will need. However, as with many other things, you truly get what you pay for when it comes to paint. Do not choose cheap paints; premium paints are definitely worth the extra money because they are more durable, much easier to apply to your walls, made much better, and much better quality than cheaper paints.

More Durable

Splurging for premium paint is especially necessary in rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms because these rooms need cleaning and scrubbing often. Cheap paints will often come right off the walls with a vigorous scrubbing, which means that as soon as something gets on them and they need cleaning, you will have to paint your wall again. For this reason, if you have children or pets, you will want to consider using premium paint for every room in your house. This will allow your walls to stay beautiful for years to come, no matter what life throws at them.

Goes on Easier and Smoother

Cheap paint can be extremely thin and need multiple coats to achieve an even finish. This can end up taking up a ton of time once you factor in the drying time between each coat. Low-quality paint can sometimes need up to eight or nine coats while premium paint can usually achieve a beautiful and even finish after two coats. In fact, you may even end up saving money by buying higher-quality paint because you will have to buy so much more of the cheaper paint. Plus, better-quality paint will cover up existing dark colors much better, too.

Better Quality

As you may have seen by now, premium paints are made much better and are much better quality than cheap paint. Higher-quality paints will be thicker and have more solids content, which means that there is more concentrated color in the paint. It is absolutely worth it to buy better paint even if it is a bit more expensive.

Premium paints are definitely worth the money when it comes to your home painting project. Although you may want to save money, wall paint is not the place to skimp. You will make a lot more work for yourself and cause your project to take much more time. Premium paints are much more durable, go on to your walls easier and smoother, and are overall much better quality. Do not make a mistake by buying low-quality paint; buy the good stuff from the beginning to save yourself trouble!
